Amazon is expanding its Amazon Fresh service in Germany to reach more customers with daily grocery deliveries, intensifying competition in the retail market and strengthening its presence in the food sector.
Last week, reports said the company partnered with former rival Knuspr, with the cooperation covering the greater Berlin area. Amazon also has an existing partnership with supermarket chain Tegut.
Legally, Amazon must comply with local rules on food sales and delivery, including logistics, hygiene standards and consumer rights, requirements that make the expansion a closely managed process.
